Magnifying IOLs

The SML is an add-on magnifying bifocal intraocular lens (IOL) for pseudophakic patients with advanced-stage AMD.  These lenses are designed to provide increased magnification and sharper focus for near-vision tasks and are implanted into the ciliary sulcus.  This lens has a high addition power in the central optic of +10.0D, providing a magnification of 2.2 and is intended for monocular implantation in the better-seeing eye, without affecting distance vision or visual field.  This lens is made from a hydrophilic material, which is highly biocompatible.
